Description
The civil war that raged all over Spain between 1936 and 1939 represents a turning point in the evolution of aircraft design techniques and the tactics of waging air warfare. In little more than thirty months, wood-and-fabric, fixed undercarriage biplane fighters, sporting marginally better performances than their predecessors in World War One, were gradually superseded by one and half times as fast, all-metal, retractable landing gear monoplanes that were to clash together within short in the early great air battles in World War Two. New military mission types emerged and were tried, from night fighting, through carpet bombing, to dive bombing. "Wings over Spain" documents the events and protagonists of the Spanish tragedy, as well as the battles, the machines and the Aces of those crucial years in the history of Aviation.
