Pre-owned condition with visible signs of age and handling. The aircraft retains its original-style hand-painted appearance, with paint wear, small scratches and irregularities. The wooden base also shows minor marks and edge wear. The model has deliberately not been restored, allowing it to retain the character and patina of an older aviation collectible. An unusual small display piece for collectors of British naval aviation, early jet aircraft and aviation memorabilia. |
Description
Rare small desk display model representing the Supermarine Attacker, hand-finished in silver and mounted in flight on a curved support above a dark-blue triangular wooden base.
The aircraft appears to be made from lead or a similar heavy metal alloy, although the exact material and manufacturer have not been identified. Its hand-painted finish, small imperfections and signs of age give the model considerable character.
AIRCRAFT
The Supermarine Attacker was an early British carrier-based jet fighter developed for the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm. Entering service in the early 1950s, it was the Fleet Air Arm’s first operational jet fighter.
COCARDE / ROUNDEL
The circular red, white and blue emblem on the base represents a British military aircraft roundel, the national identification marking traditionally used on Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm aircraft.
The model itself also carries hand-painted British-style markings, including roundels and a red-white-blue fin flash on the tail.
