What's this all about?

The Battle of the Beams, the triumph of Enigma, the weapons of terror - They were all part of the secret war.

Behind the fighting speeches, the campaigns, and the bloody battles of the Second World War, another struggle was being fought. The " back - room boys " - scientists and technologists in Britain and Germany - were working on inventions that could change the course of the war.

Until recently*, the story of that struggle has been classified as top secret. Now, in this fascinating account, expanded from research for his widely acclaimed BBC television series, the author tells the extraordinary, compelling story of the war we never knew.

* late 1970's.
