This lavishly illustrated guide to the combat aircraft of the U.S.S.R. provides a concise view of all the aeroplanes in service with the world's biggest air force today - as well as those supplied to the Warsaw Pact countries and the other Soviet allies throughout the world. For each aircraft there are development and services notes, with lists of variants and derivatives, plus data of power plant, dimensions, weights and armament.
Nico Sgarlato ( 1944 ) was born in Albenga ( Liguria, Italy ), where he has always lived. He is mostly known as editor or editor - in - chief of several specialized periodicals ( Aviation & Navy, Airplanes, Aerospace - month, Airplanes in History, Aeronautics & Defense ), but only a few people know he also has a ufologist curriculum dating back to his younger years and the collaboration with Clypeus magazine ( 1967 ). Since 1990, he has been a full member of the Italian Center for U.F.O. Studies ( C.I.S.U. ), writing articles in its journal UFO. Nico Sgarlato has also published a few books, such as : Italian aircraft in World War II ( 1979 ), U.S. Fighters of the Fifties ( 1979 ), U.S.A.F. aircraft of today ( 1985 ).
