Description
The F-105 Thunderchief was designed and built to deliver tactical nuclear weapons to enemy targets anywhere in the world. The THUD would carve its place in aviation history by dropping the lions’ share of iron bombs over some of the most heavily defended targets of the Vietnam War.
Republic built 833 F-105s during its production run. Here for the first time is an accounting of each one! Information is included as to where each plane served, who flew it and the ultimate fate of each THUD.
Along with the roll call are over 600 photographs, most in colour, of different serial numbers, including the two F-105s that were flown on Medal of Honor missions.
ROLL CALL: THUD is a tribute to the great Republic F-105, and to the THUD drivers and fixers who ‘pressed on regardless.’ The foreword is by famed Thud Driver and author of Thud Ridge, Col. Jack Broughton.
