Description
“Regia Aeronautica – The Italian Air Force 1923–1945 – An Operational History’ is a detailed and richly illustrated book that covers the history of the Regia Aeronautica (the Italian air force) from 1940 to 1943. This is an area of aviation history that is attracting increasing interest from historians, enthusiasts, and modellers.
The book covers the aircraft, camouflage, and markings of the various branches of the Regia Aeronautica’s aviation. Its machines were invariably colourfully camouflaged for tropical and water use, and richly adorned with individual, tactical, and unit markings, making them popular modelling subjects.
They flew in several theatres of operations between 1940 and 1943, including France, Belgium, Yugoslavia, Russia, and Greece, and produced a number of aviation aces such as Teresio Martinoli, Franco Lucchini, Leonardo Ferrulli, and Franco Bordoni-Bisleri.
All aircraft are covered: day fighters, bombers, dive bombers, and ground attack units, as well as maritime and transport aircraft.
It is an ideal reference volume for modellers, especially those specifically interested in Italian aviation.
