Description

McDonnell Douglas Aircraft since 1920, Volume II, represents the completion of René Francillon’s massive updating of the history of these two major United States aircraft manufacturers.

When the Douglas and McDonnell companies were merged in 1967 the Douglas DC-9 was a well-established aeroplane but the DC-9–80 became the MD-80 and it is from this point that Volume II takes up the Douglas story which leads on to the DC-10, MD-11 and military products including the US version of the V/STOL Harrier. The complete history of McDonnell appears in this volume, including the most comprehensive coverage of the outstanding F-4 Phantom.

The products of the Hughes company are also included in this volume so that full, detailed descriptions of their remarkable range of helicopters are now available.

With its superb collection of photographs and GA drawings and full production lists of the companies’ products, this volume, along with its companion volume, is an indispensable reference work for those with a serious interest in military and civil aviation.
