Description
Yak-7B was one of the main fighters to serve with Soviet Air Force during World War II in Soviet Union. The Yak-7B front fighter was designed in early 1942 on the base of its predecessor Yak-7A In contrast to all Soviet fighters of that period, Yak-7B possessed more powerful armament. The Yak-7B changed over Yak-7A in serial production. Fighters with M-105PA engines were built during April-July, 1942. The Yak-7B with boosted M-105 PF entered factory assembly lines August, 1942. The flight characteristics of the fighter were increased by the improvements of the finishing and exterior details. Yak-7B (M-105 PF) fighters entered service in Stalingrad, then passed warfare on all fronts, served in air defense and were in action till the end of WWII in Soviet Union. Many Soviet aces - among them twice Heroes of Soviet Union A.Vorozeikin (52 victories), I.Stepanenko (41 victories), P.Pokrishev (31 victories) and E.Savitski (24 victories) - fight with Nazi at Yak-7B controls. In total, during April-July, 1942, 261 Yak-7B (M-105 PA) and during August, 1942 - July,1944, 5,120 Yak-7B (M-105 PF) were built.
