Description
The Yakovlev Yak-1 was a Soviet World War II fighter aircraft, first flown in 1940. Designed by Alexander Yakovlev, it was fast, agile, and effective in combat. Powered by a Klimov M-105P engine, it featured a mixed construction of metal and wood. Armed with a 20 mm cannon and two 7.62 mm machine guns, the Yak-1 performed well in dogfights and became a favorite among Soviet pilots. It was the foundation of the Yak fighter series and played a key role on the Eastern Front.
