Description
The V-156-B1 was an export version of the American Vought SB2U Vindicator built for the French Navy in 1939–1940. A two-seat carrier-capable dive bomber, it featured a radial engine, fixed landing gear with spats, and folding wings for shipboard storage. Armed with forward-firing machine guns and a flexible rear gun, it could carry bombs for anti-ship and ground-attack missions. Several saw combat during the Battle of France. After France’s fall, surviving aircraft were taken over by Britain and operated as the Chesapeake.
