This Academy 1:48 scale plastic model kit reproduces the famous Grumman TBM-3 Avenger, one of the most successful carrier-based torpedo bombers of the Second World War. This particular edition represents an aircraft from USS Bunker Hill (CV-17), one of the U.S. Navy's Essex-class aircraft carriers that served extensively in the Pacific Theater.
Designed for experienced modelers and collectors aged 14 and above, the kit offers finely moulded plastic parts, detailed cockpit and engine components, realistic surface engraving and authentic markings. Once assembled and painted, it produces an impressive display model measuring over 26 cm in length.
The box remains in excellent cosmetic condition, while the contents are like new and still factory sealed in their original plastic bags. Decals and instruction sheet are included.
The Grumman TBM-3 Avenger entered service in 1944 and became one of the U.S. Navy's most important naval aircraft. Powered by a Wright R-2600 radial engine, it was capable of carrying torpedoes, bombs or depth charges and played a major role in anti-shipping, anti-submarine and ground attack missions throughout the Pacific War. Its rugged construction and long operational range made it one of the most effective naval aircraft of its generation, remaining in military service in several countries well after the end of World War II.
