Description
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk VII was a high-altitude interceptor variant of the legendary British fighter, developed to counter high-flying German aircraft during World War II. Introduced in 1942, it featured a pressurized cockpit, extended wingtips for improved high-altitude performance, and a strengthened airframe. Powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin 71 engine, the Mk VII could reach speeds over 400 mph and operate effectively above 40,000 feet. It carried the standard armament of two 20 mm Hispano cannons and four .303 Browning machine guns. Although produced in relatively small numbers, the Spitfire Mk VII demonstrated exceptional climb rate, stability, and handling, making it one of the finest high-altitude fighters of its era and a vital step in Spitfire evolution.
