Description
The Yak-15 was the first Soviet jet fighter, making its maiden flight in 1946. The aircraft had high speed but lacked maneuverability. It served as a transitional model from piston-engine aircraft to jet-powered ones. The Yak-17UTI trainer and the Yak-17 fighter were developed from its design. A total of 280 Yak-15 aircraft were built.
