Description

The Su-2 was a Soviet light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft used during World War II. It was designed by Pavel Sukhoi and was the first aircraft to bear his famous name. Developed in 1936-37, it combined a metal fuselage with wooden wings. The Su-2 was used extensively in the early stages of World War II, but was gradually phased out in favor of the more capable Il-2 Shturmovik. Despite its obsolescence, the Su-2 continued to serve until 1944.
