Description
The Seversky P-35 was an American fighter introduced in the late 1930s as one of the first modern U.S. Army Air Corps monoplane fighters. It featured an all-metal low-wing design, retractable landing gear, and an enclosed cockpit, representing a major advancement over biplanes of the era. Armed with machine guns and capable of modest bomb loads, it combined speed, maneuverability, and range for its time. The P-35 was exported to countries including Sweden and the Philippines, and it saw limited combat in early World War II. While soon outclassed by faster, more heavily armed fighters, the P-35 laid the groundwork for subsequent Seversky and Republic designs, including the P-47 Thunderbolt.
