Description
The Saab J32B Lansen was a two-seat fighter aircraft manufactured by Swedish Aeroplan AB in Linköping. It was the Swedish Air Force’s first all-weather aircraft, produced in three distinct versions. The Lansen served in the Swedish Air Force from 1956 until 1997, and at least one Lansen is still operational and flying today.
This kit is a high-quality short-run model featuring injection-molded clear parts and resin-cast seats and engine exhausts for enhanced detail.
The Saab 32 Lansen was a Swedish attack, fighter, and reconnaissance aircraft from the Cold War period. The prototype’s first flight was in 1952, and by 1956, it had entered service with the Swedish Air Force, remaining active until 1978. In total, about 450 units of this aircraft were built. The Lansen was powered by a single Svenska Flygmotor RM5A2 or RM6A turbojet engine, reaching a top speed of Mach 0.9 and a maximum range of 1,000 kilometers. It was armed with four 20 mm Bofors cannons (in the A version) or four 30 mm ADEN cannons (in the B version).
The Saab 32 Lansen was developed to replace the Saab 18 bomber. The new aircraft was designed for all-weather operations, both day and night, with an emphasis on high-speed performance.
