Description
The Bf 109G-3 and G-4 were variants of the widely used German Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter, introduced in 1942 as part of the "Gustav" series. The G-3 was equipped with a pressurized cockpit for high-altitude operations, while the G-4 was nearly identical but lacked cockpit pressurization and featured upgraded radio equipment. Both models retained the powerful DB 605A engine, giving them excellent speed and climb performance. They were armed with a 20mm MG 151 cannon and two 7.92mm MG 131 machine guns. The G-4 introduced larger main wheels, requiring small aerodynamic fairings on the upper wing surface. These variants served on all fronts, offering a balance of firepower and agility, and marked a shift toward heavier, more powerful 109s to counter newer Allied aircraft.
