Description
The PZL P.24 was a Polish export fighter developed in the 1930s from the PZL P.7 high-wing monoplane. Powered by a Gnome-Rhône 14K Mistral Major producing 970 hp, it was armed with a 20 mm cannon and two machine guns. The aircraft impressed international observers after Bolesław Orliński’s aerobatic displays in 1930. Variants were exported to Greece and Turkey, with Greece receiving P.24F and P.24G models, featuring four machine guns or a cannon plus four guns. Greek pilots famously destroyed 40 Axis aircraft in April 1941. Turkish pilots trained in Poland, and one captured P.24 remains preserved in Turkey. The PZL P.24 exemplified advanced all-metal construction and robust performance for its era.
