Description
The PZL P.24 was a Polish single-seat fighter developed as an export version of earlier PZL designs by engineer Zygmunt Puławski. International interest in PZL fighters began after Bolesław Orliński’s impressive aerobatic display on the PZL P.6 at the 1930 Paris Air Show. While the PZL P.7 and PZL P.11 entered Polish service in 1932 and 1933, licensing restrictions prevented their export, leading to the creation of the PZL P.24. Designed to use the Gnome-Rhône Jupiter engine, the first prototype was completed in November 1933, with further testing conducted in Bulgaria in 1934. The P.24B escort fighter combined features of early prototypes. Aircraft were painted dark green with light blue undersides, red engine cowlings, and squadron markings on the fuselage.
