Description
The P-51D Mustang was the most well-known and widely produced version of the Mustang fighter during WWII. With its powerful Packard-built Merlin engine, it offered excellent speed, range, and high-altitude performance. The P-51D featured a bubble canopy for better visibility and six .50 caliber machine guns for strong firepower. It escorted Allied bombers deep into enemy territory, playing a key role in gaining air superiority over Europe. Fast, agile, and deadly, the P-51D was loved by its pilots and feared by its enemies. By war’s end, it had become a symbol of Allied air power.
