Description
The P-40 Warhawk was one of the most famous American fighters of World War II. This sturdy single-engine aircraft was used by the USAAF and many Allied air forces, and remained in frontline service throughout the war years. The P-40M was an improved version of the previous P-40K. It was powered by a 1,360 hp Allison engine and armed with six 12.7 mm machine guns. The P-40N was the final production version, with a more powerful engine, simplified equipment and reduced weight. The P-40 was used by the USAAF, RAF, RAAF, RCAF, RNZAF and SAAF in every theatre of operations. The P-40M and N versions were produced in large numbers, with 5,000 examples delivered.
