Description
The Mustang Mk IVA was the Royal Air Force designation for the North American P-51D Mustang, one of the finest long-range fighters of the Second World War. Entering RAF service in 1944, it combined excellent speed, agility, and endurance, making it ideal for escort, ground attack, and air superiority missions. Powered by the Packard-built Merlin 66 engine, the Mk IVA performed exceptionally well at high altitudes and offered outstanding range when fitted with drop tanks. Its bubble canopy provided superior visibility, while armament consisted of six .50 caliber Browning machine guns. The Mustang Mk IVA gave the RAF a highly capable fighter that could operate deep over enemy territory with confidence.
