Description
The North American P-51 Mustang was one of WWII's top fighter aircraft, known for its speed, agility, and long range. Used by the USAAF and RAF, it excelled in bomber escort and air combat. The P-51D variant featured a "bubble" canopy for improved visibility and was powered by a Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, offering strong high-altitude performance. Armed with six 12.7 mm Browning machine guns, it was a formidable opponent. Its range allowed it to escort U.S. bombers deep into enemy territory. The RAF's Mustang Mk. IV was equivalent to the American P-51D.
