Description
Czech Model kits are produced to offer the 1/48 scale modeling enthusiast subjects that, for one reason or another, have been consistently overlooked. Consequently, it is with great pleasure that we at Czech Model offer this line of limited production, short-run kits to those who wish to add these aircraft to their collections. Please note that these kits are not produced from highly sophisticated long-run hardened steel molds and consequently some details, such as locating pins, etc., cannot be provided and may have to be fashioned by the modeler if required. Heavier sprues, a rough finish and a certain amount of flash is unavoidable in the molding process. The resin parts have excess material that will have to be carefully removed. Care must be taken when removing each part from the sprue tree and additional time must be taken in cleaning up and dry fitting each part before assembly. The Messerschmitt Me 163 was one of the most highly advanced interceptor-fighters of the second World War. The aircraft had many shortcomings, not the least of which was its tendency to explode if the aircraft was jolted or if the highly corrosive fuels were allowed to come into contact with each other. The Me 163 had no landing gear, but employed a landing skid. Recovering the aircraft was a lengthy and dangerous undertaking, with crew and aircraft exposed to enemy attacks. The Me 263, also known as the Ju 248, was developed to address the shortcomings of the Me 163, at least partially. A pressurized cockpit with an improved-vision teardrop canopy and retractable landing gear. The aircraft was actually built for testing purposed by Junkers at Brandis, Germany. The Me 263 was slated for initial dispersal to units already operating the treacherous Me 163. JG 400 was the primary interceptor group operating the Me 163, and we have shown examples of aircraft as they would have appeared in unit markings. We have also included decals and painting guides for the prototype aircraft.
