Description

The Messerschmitt series of BF109G aircraft began with a request from front line operational pilots, who were flying the 109F model. They asked for more pilot protection: greater firepower: and more speed. The Messerschmitt firm developed a special pressurization system from their 109G-1, to save weight, added bullet/shatter proof glass to the windscreen for pilot protection and used a faster Daimler-Benz engine for more speed. Firepower was upgraded with two MG17 7.92mm guns, plus the 20mm nose cannon. The 109G was the most widely produced G type 109. The first cooperation in April 1942, and was the most widely produced G type 109 (DATA) Crew 1, Length 9.02m, Wing Span 9.924m, Height 2.60m, Fixed Weapons: one M151 20mm cannon and two MG17 7.92mm guns, Engine DB605A 1,475hp/6,300m.
