Description
The Bf109F series constituted a total revamping of the fighter's fundamental design most visibly evident in the aerodynamic streamlining that smoothed the somewhat rough edges of the E series, giving the F design its characteristically elegant lines. The F design also improved on the arrangement of the cannon armament, which fired through a hollow propeller hub in the E series designs, concentrating firepower ordnance in the cowling and improving the overall weight balance of the aircraft. The design was widely recognized as the world's most potent fighter during 1941-1942.
