Description
The Hawker Hurricane Mk I was a British single-seat fighter and the first monoplane to enter service with the Royal Air Force, debuting in 1937. Powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and armed with eight .303 Browning machine guns, it featured a fabric-covered metal frame and a wide-track undercarriage, making it stable and easy to fly. Though overshadowed by the faster Spitfire, the Hurricane was the workhorse of the RAF during the Battle of Britain, accounting for the majority of enemy kills. Rugged, reliable, and adaptable, the Mk I proved essential in the early years of World War II across multiple theatres.
