Description
The Nakajima Ki-115 Tsurugi was a Japanese special-attack aircraft developed late in World War II for kamikaze missions. Designed for rapid, low-cost production, it used simple construction techniques, non-strategic materials, and components from existing aircraft. Powered by various available radial engines, the Ki-115 had fixed landing gear intended only for training takeoffs, as operational missions were one-way. The aircraft carried a single large bomb mounted under the fuselage and minimal instrumentation. First flown in 1945, the Tsurugi entered limited service but never saw combat, as Japan surrendered before it could be deployed. It remains a stark example of the extreme measures taken in the final months of the war.
