Description
The Hawker Hurricane Mk I was a British single-seat fighter aircraft and one of the key aircraft of the Royal Air Force during the early years of World War II. Entering service in 1937, it featured a fabric-covered metal structure, a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, and was armed with eight .303 Browning machine guns.
Though slower than the Spitfire, the Hurricane was rugged, reliable, and easier to produce. It played a crucial role during the Battle of Britain, accounting for more enemy kills than all other British aircraft combined. The Mk I laid the foundation for later Hurricane variants and remains a symbol of RAF resilience.
