Description
The Henschel Hs 126 was a German reconnaissance and observation aircraft developed in the late 1930s and used extensively by the Luftwaffe during the early years of World War II. Designed as a short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft, it featured a high-wing monoplane configuration with fixed landing gear, providing excellent visibility for its two-man crew—pilot and observer. Powered by a Bramo 323 radial engine, the Hs 126 could reach speeds of around 360 km/h (225 mph) and had a range of approximately 720 km. It carried cameras, light bombs, and a defensive 7.92 mm MG 15 machine gun. Though soon replaced by faster aircraft like the Focke-Wulf Fw 189, the Hs 126 played a vital role in reconnaissance and artillery spotting on all major fronts early in the war.
