Description
The Heinkel He 115 was a German seaplane from World War II. It served both as a mine layer, being the first German seaplane to be able to carry this weapon, and as a torpedo bomber.
It was built in 224 copies, some of which were exported to Norway and Sweden, but also two copies in England, where they were intensively evaluated. Operating against the PQ convoys in the Arctic Sea and the North Sea in its torpedo version and dropping mines in the English Channel, they achieved great success in these missions.
In its civilian version, it broke seven speed records previously set by other seaplanes.
