Description
Introduced in 1931 the Hawker Fighter was designed by Sydney Camm and was a development of the purebred Hawker High Speed Fury of 1929. It first appeared in RAF service in 1931 and formed a number of squadrons during the next 6 years. No 43 Squadron (demonstrated here) was formed in China, Spain, and Yugoslavia. The aircraft were progressively lined out with more powerful Rolls Royce Kestrel engines, the last examples joining No 25 Squadron in Egypt. Span 30 or 9.14 m. Length 26 ft 8.75 in (8.13 m). Max Speed 207 m.p.h. Ceiling 28,000 ft. Range 300 m. Engine Kestrel 525 h.p. Guns 2 x .303 in. (1535.4 m)
