Description
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190, first flown in 1939, became one of the Luftwaffe’s most capable fighters. Initially plagued by technical issues, it entered service in 1941 with JG26. Early variants like the A-1 were armed with MG17 machine guns, but later models saw major improvements in power and firepower, including 20mm MG151 and MG FF cannons. The A-3 introduced 13mm MG131s, while the A-4 added the BMW 801D-2 engine. By 1942, production surged with the A-5, capable of carrying bombs. The A-7 introduced electrical upgrades, and the heavily armed A-8/R2 and R8 featured MK108 cannons. Over time, the Fw 190 evolved into a versatile and formidable fighter across all fronts.
