Description
The Fw 190A-8/R2 was a specialized German fighter-bomber variant of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8, used extensively during World War II. Designed for ground-attack missions, the R2 version was equipped to carry a 300 kg bomb under the fuselage, increasing its strike capability. Powered by a BMW 801D radial engine, it delivered robust performance with a top speed around 600 km/h and excellent maneuverability. The aircraft retained the heavy armament of the A-8 series, typically including two 13 mm MG 131 machine guns and four 20 mm MG 151 cannons, making it lethal against both air and ground targets. The Fw 190A-8/R2 played a vital role on the Western and Eastern fronts, providing close air support and disrupting enemy supply lines, combining speed, firepower, and durability in a versatile ground-attack platform.
