Description
The F6F-3 Hellcat was a carrier-based U.S. Navy fighter introduced in 1943 during WWII. Powered by a 2,000 hp Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine, it reached speeds over 600 km/h and carried six .50 cal machine guns. Designed for durability and ease of handling, it excelled in the Pacific, achieving a kill ratio of 19:1 against Japanese aircraft. The F6F-3 featured folding wings, heavy armor, and excellent range, making it a dominant force in air superiority and ground attack roles. It played a key role in securing air dominance at battles like the Philippine Sea.
