Description
The F/A-18F Super Hornet is a twin-engine, carrier-capable, multi-role fighter aircraft developed by Boeing for the U.S. Navy. It’s a larger and more advanced version of the original F/A-18 Hornet, with improved radar, avionics, and weaponry, offering enhanced survivability and mission versatility.
The F/A-18F is a two-seat variant, designed primarily for strike and air superiority missions, but it can also perform reconnaissance, close air support, and anti-surface warfare. It has a higher fuel capacity and more powerful engines than its predecessor, allowing for longer combat range and greater payload capacity. The aircraft's advanced APG-79 AESA radar enables superior tracking and targeting capabilities in challenging environments.
With a max speed of Mach 1.8 and a combat radius of around 450 nautical miles, the Super Hornet is a highly flexible platform, capable of operating from aircraft carriers with minimal support.
