Description
The McDonnell F-4 Phantom II was a tandem two-seat, twin-engine supersonic fighter-bomber developed in the 1950s for the U.S. Navy, later adopted by the Air Force and Marine Corps. Renowned for its speed, payload, and versatility, it could exceed Mach 2 and carry over 18,000 pounds of bombs and missiles. Initially armed with missiles only, later variants added an internal cannon. The Phantom served in air superiority, ground attack, and reconnaissance roles, seeing extensive combat in Vietnam and the Middle East. Its adaptability, long range, and multirole capabilities made it one of the most widely used and iconic jets of the Cold War era.
