Description
The de Havilland Mosquito was a versatile British aircraft of World War II, serving as a fast bomber, reconnaissance plane, and fighter-bomber. Designed in 1939 as a high-speed, unarmed bomber using wood construction, it offered speed and agility advantages. Initial orders were limited, but after reaching 630 km/h in tests, production expanded. The PR Mk.I reconnaissance variant entered service in 1941, followed by the B Mk. IV bomber in 1942. Mosquitoes carried out precision raids, including attacks on German headquarters in Oslo and Berlin, and played a key role in sinking the battleship Tirpitz. They also scouted V-2 rocket facilities. Known for speed, accuracy, and low losses, the Mosquito earned a reputation as one of the most effective Allied aircraft.
