Description
The de Havilland DH.110 Sea Vixen FAW.2 was a British twin-boom, twin-engine all-weather carrier-based fighter developed in the 1950s as an improved version of the original FAW.1. It featured upgraded Rolls-Royce Avon engines, increased fuel capacity, strengthened wings, and a redesigned tailplane for better stability. The FAW.2 was equipped with modern radar and could carry air-to-air missiles, rockets, and bombs, serving as both interceptor and strike aircraft. Entering service with the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm in the early 1960s, it operated from aircraft carriers. Known for its distinctive twin-tail design and swept wings, the Sea Vixen FAW.2 remained in frontline service until 1972.
