Description
The de Havilland D.H.82 Tiger Moth was one of the most successful training and sport aircraft of the 1930s and 1940s, becoming a cornerstone of British pilot training. Entering RAF service in the early 1930s, it served for over 15 years, with nearly every British pilot receiving initial flight instruction on the Tiger Moth. Before World War II, around 1,000 aircraft were built, followed by more than 6,900 additional examples produced across the British Empire during and after the war, many serving in Canada. A single-engine, two-seat biplane with fixed landing gear, it featured tandem open cockpits, simple handling, and excellent reliability. Powered by the de Havilland Gipsy Major engine, the Tiger Moth was also used as a courier, patrol, and night-training aircraft, earning a lasting reputation as a classic trainer.
