Description
The Curtiss P-40K Warhawk was a development of the famous P-40 fighter used by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Built by Curtiss-Wright, the P-40K featured a more powerful Allison V-1710 engine and improved tail design to correct stability issues. Like other Warhawk variants, it was armed with six .50-caliber machine guns and could carry bombs for ground-attack missions. Although not as fast as newer fighters, the P-40K was rugged, reliable, and effective in combat. It served widely in the Pacific, China-Burma-India, and Mediterranean theaters, where pilots valued its durability and strong diving performance.
