Description
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was the primary fighter of the Luftwaffe and one of the most important combat aircraft of World War II. Designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the mid-1930s, it introduced advanced features such as an all-metal monoplane structure, retractable landing gear, and a closed cockpit. The aircraft first proved itself during the Spanish Civil War and soon became the backbone of German fighter forces. Numerous versions—from the early B and E models to the later F, G, and K—served on every front of the war. Even after 1945, the Bf 109 continued flying with several air forces, making it one of the most famous and long-serving fighters in aviation history.
