Description
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E-7/Trop was a tropicalized version of the famous German fighter developed by Willy Messerschmitt for operations in North Africa during World War II. Based on the Bf 109E-7 “Emil,” it featured a special dust filter on the engine intake and survival equipment suitable for desert operations. Powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine, the aircraft combined high speed and strong climb performance with heavy armament of machine guns and 20 mm cannons. Used primarily by the Luftwaffe, the Bf 109E-7/Trop operated extensively in the Mediterranean and North African campaigns as an escort fighter, interceptor, and ground-attack aircraft.
