Description

The Beech Model 18, known as the “Twin Beech,” was one of the most successful and widely used trainers in aviation history. This twin-engine, low-wing monoplane first flew in January 1937 and could carry up to eight passengers. Its excellent performance quickly attracted the attention of the U.S. Army Air Forces and Navy, which adopted it for training purposes. In 1941, as the U.S. sought an affordable aircraft for navigator and bombardier training, Beech produced the improved C18S model. The military trainer versions were designated AT-7C Navigator by the Army and SNB-2C by the Navy. By 1944, 549 AT-7Cs and 373 SNB-2Cs had been built. Used both in the U.S. and overseas, the type also served post-war, with 28 AT-7s delivered to the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
