The F-16D is a two-seat variant of the F-16C Fighting Falcon fighter jet. It retains full combat capability and is used for pilot training and as a platform for Weapons Systems Officers in some air forces.

Description

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is the world's most prolific fighter with more than 4,500 built and still in production today. Its unique design with a bubble canopy, side-mounted control stick, and 30-degree seat back angle provides the pilot with excellent visibility and comfort. The F-16D is a two-seat variant of the single-seat F-16C. The aircraft retains all the combat capability of the F-16C. The F-16D is used for conversion training for pilots transitioning to the F-16 and for Weapons Systems Officers in some air forces. Block 40/42 aircraft were the first block to be built with a common engine bay, able to accept either the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 or General Electric F110-GE-100. From 2002, Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229s or General Electric F110-GE-129 increased performance engines were introduced.
