Description
As the tale unfolds there are barnstorming pilots, sane and not so sane, playing supporting and even important roles, as do innovative designers, far-sighted businessmen, and hard-eyed financiers.
And for some drama there are pilots falling out of airplanes, engines that quit, runaway airplanes a parachute caught in the tail of an airplane, and the near disaster of the GRAF ZEPPELIN.
’Log Book’ relates the actual flying experiences as observed during Commercial Pilot Foster Lane's career in general aviation. He was privileged to observe virtually all of the developments of this branch of aviation.
The author himself is in ’Log Book’ but not as a star. There are many stars, more than a hundred, whose lives are caught up in events described first-hand within these pages. In fact, the main character is general aviation itself, an industry.
It is all described in a step-by- step story that shows the progression of general aviation history. There are more than 120 photographs, some of them rare items never before published.
Foster A. Lane (1903- 1995) was a true aviation pioneer and ambassador who helped forge the industry we know and love today.
