Description
Hawker Aircraft since 1920, by one of the most distinguished writers on military aviation, was originally published in 1961 and updated in 1971.
An outstanding work when first published, it is now of even greater value, the author having made a complete revision as well as expanding and updating the sections on the later aircraft such as the Hunter and Harrier, and adding new chapters on the Sea Harrier, the Harrier G.R.5 and the joint Anglo-American Harrier.
Hawker is one of the great names in world aviation and this book traces the history of the company from its foundation by Tom Sopwith in 1920 to its present form as a major constituent of British Aerospace.
Sydney Camm was responsible for many of the Hawker designs, and the aeroplanes in this book - the Hart, Demon, Fury, Hurricane, Typhoon, Tempest, Sea Hawk, Hunter and Harrier - are his finest memorial.
These and the other Hawker products are described in great detail and illustrated by photographs and drawings. The appendices have been completely updated and in this edition the author has been able to expand considerably the section on unbuilt and unfinished projects.
