Description
Throughout the world there are many historic aeroplanes on show. Regrettably the majority of these aircraft are now inert museum pieces. The Shuttleworth Collection is unique in that all the historic aircraft are maintained in a completely airworthy condition and regularly give flying displays.
Until now, however, a book describing the flying qualities of these unique veterans has been missing from the shelves. For the first time therefore, this book gathers into one volume detailed descriptions of the flying characteristics of various Shuttleworth Collection aeroplanes. The book is arranged in such a way that it plots the course of aircraft flight and control characteristics from 1909-1939.
Such is the value of these historic aeroplanes that only pilots of the very highest calibre and experience can be allowed to fly them. The pilots who have contributed to this book are therefore amongst the very few qualified to write authoritatively on the relevant handling characteristics.
Moreover, as many of the aircraft are sole survivors of their type many of the chapters will stand in history as the definitive reports on some famous planes.
The book will fascinate not only all pilots and aviation enthusiasts but will also be a significant reference work for all those interested in the history of aviation.
