Description
As the father of the modern Italian Air Force – the Aeronautica – during the years 1926-33, Balbo attained the rank of Duce's Air Marshal, and secured a place in the overall history of aviation worldwide as the initiator of 4 spectacular aerial cruises of flights. A hero in his own time, Balbo was portrayed as the man who helped bring the Duce to power. He opposed the creation of the Italian Empire by conquering first Ethiopia and later Albania. He was against Italian intervention in the Spanish Civil War and was an outspoken and consistent opponent of the Mussolinian tilt toward Hithler. Blaine Taylor was born in Washington. He is the author of the booklet The battle of North Point, 1814, the special 50th anniversary commemorative issue on Pearl Harbour, D-Day and Onward to Victory and Guarding the Führer.
