Description
This exquisite die-cast model aircraft is part of the Herpa Wings Club Limited Club Edition 2007 collection. Crafted in 1:500 scale, this precision replica features authentic Uzbekistan Airways livery with the distinctive blue and green cheatline along the fuselage. The model showcases the classic rear-engined configuration of the IL-62 with exceptional attention to detail, from the landing gear to the tail-mounted engines. As a collectible piece, it comes in protective packaging and represents a fine example of Soviet-era commercial aviation preserved in miniature form.
The Ilyushin IL-62 was a long-range narrow-body airliner designed by the Soviet Union in the 1960s. This four-engine jet aircraft featured a distinctive T-tail configuration and rear-mounted engines, similar to the British VC-10. The IL-62 served as the flagship of many Soviet and Eastern Bloc airlines for decades, capable of intercontinental flights. This particular aircraft, registration UK-86573, operated for Uzbekistan Airways following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. With an original wingspan of 43.20 meters, length of 53.12 meters, and height of 12.35 meters, the IL-62 represented the pinnacle of Soviet commercial aircraft design.
